I just got this ring yesterday, and I love it. I agree that the ring in the picture does not match the real ring, but it's beautiful all the same. As for the darkness of the sapphire, my mother actually has a Thailand sapphire engagement ring that is just stunning, and the stone is very dark. My guess is it all depends on where the sapphire was found. I think it may be worth a little less than it actually is, but even so, it's a beautiful ring.

I got this as a gift for my Girl Friend when I got it the sapphire wasnt blue it was a fractured multicolored gem of some sort when I took it to the Jewlers he said it was a smokey sapphire and was worthless I had to pay $35 to get a blue topaz put it. Do not buy this if you want a nice ring

I had seen this ring online and had asked for it for Christmas. I received it but was quite dissapointed. It looks more like an Onyx NOT a Saphire because it is so dark. If it weren't such a hassle to return it, I would definitely not be keeping it. You can find much nicer rings for the almost $29 after shipping costs! NOT WORTH IT!

If I were buying this ring for myself I would be dissapointed. The stone is very flat. It isn't as deeply faceted as it appears in the photo. It is so dark it appears to be black. However, this was purchased for my daughter. At such a low price it was a safe bet for her 1st 'real' piece of jewelry. She is absolutely delighted and wears it with great joy and pride. In summation, I would say this is a very satisfying ring for a young girl.
