We have been engaged for four months and I keep getting bumps (kinda looks like ant bites) around the band of my ring. I have a one caret, solitary, platinum engagement ring. The bumps dont really hurt but they get pretty big. I have worn platinum before but it has been a long time ago and I didnt have any type of reaction to it then. its not very pretty when people ask to see your ring and they see huge bumps all around it. What could be causing these bumps? Could it be an allergic reaction to the platinum?
Also, I had one that even left a scar.

I would say that you ARE allergic. One alternative is to take your ring to the jeweler and ask them to put rhobodium (sp?) inside the band. Someone I know had that problem with gold and that really helped.

Yes it's called contact dermatitis which is just a big word for rash from your jewelry.
